Dog Ices

Doggo's Frozen Cream Treats

Mix the ingedients in a blender until smooth. Add flavorings as desired and blend again until incorporated. Spoon the cream into silicone molds, adding any mix-ins. Freeze until solid.

  COOKED OATMEAL1/4 c
  PLAIN GREEK YOGURT1/4 c
  UNSWEETENED COCONUT MILK1/2 c
  CRUSHED UNSWEETENED COCONUT FLAKES1 t
  XANTHAN GUM1/16 t

These are very fattening, just like regular ice cream is for humans. I make my bars in 1 TB amounts and give my very lean puppy no more than 2 a day on hot days. Be conservative with how many you give your dog, especially if you make them with sweet flavors.

flavoring examples

I only use 1 T or less of flavoring ingredients for the recipe above. Be conservative, especially with sugar-filled ingredients. Pet obesity is an epidemic we can fix. My pup is happy with the plain cream. There's no reason to overdo it to fit a human palate.

flavor ideas

Pupsicles

Use 2 tsp of any of the dog safe ingredients or combos above and puree them with a cup of water. Pour it in a silicone ice cube mold and freeze them until they are hard. Cucumber, mint, or coconut milk work really well.

These are great for a few reasons. You can give them as often as you want to teething pups and when the weather is hot, especially if they aren't super sweet. They have all the benefits of ice cubes but are not quite as hard since the water isn't pure, which makes dental issues less likely. They are tastier than plain ice and can be more appealing to doggo, you can even add them to their water. Just not all the time or they may start being too picky for regular water.

Dog Bakes

AKC's Peanut Butter & Pumpkin Dog Treats

Find the recipe here.

I really like this recipe and will be making it again. It's not perfect, though. You will need to add water little by little until you can get the dough to come together. If the recipe makes too many cookies, the dough freezes and can be thawed in the fridge for future use. I recommend you chill the dough before rolling and cutting. I got a 3d printed cookie cutter that does a whole row of goldfish shapes and they are a great size for training lil pups, and the pumpkin in it helps keeps their poops from being runny. You can also leave the dough in the fridge wrapped in saran wrap for a few days and when you make the cookies they will puff up. Also, the puppy loves them.
